Baked Monte Christo Sandwiches



The classic Monte Cristo sandwich is made even better with baked Monte Christo sandwiches. With ham and Swiss cheese inside, these sandwiches are dipped in a tasty egg wash, covered in Parmesan cheese, and baked until golden. They taste great on their own and with other foods.

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of white bread
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Raspberry jam for dipping

Instructions:

Turn on your oven and heat it up to 375F 190C

To make the egg wash, mix the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg in a bowl with a whisk

Arrange the bread slices on the table

On two of them, put a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese

Add the last two slices of bread on top to make a sandwich

Be sure to cover both sides of each sandwich with the egg wash

Cheese that has been grated should be put on top of each sandwich

Melt the butter in a pan over medium-low heat

When the pan is hot, add the sandwiches and cook for about two to three minutes on each side, until both sides are golden brown

Put the sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake them in a hot oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cheese melts and the bread is golden brown

Take it out of the oven, sprinkle it with powdered sugar, and serve it hot with raspberry jam on the side
